Watching a Garden Evolve

This photo of the rear borders was taken in July, 2001. The lilies are in what I called the "Peony Border." I'll show you that later on. Obviously the peonies have finished their display here and other things have taken over. To the right of the yellow lilies is some Monarda (Bee Balm), which was an unusual and lovely color. Some of the other borders are visible from this vantage point as well. Click on the image for a larger view.

Old Gardens, New Gardens

About two years ago, I moved from a garden that I designed, planted and cultivated for 10 y ears, to a new location and a new life, remaining on Cape Cod. This of course means that there is new gardening to be done; I am confronted with a blank slate of driveway gravel, and lots of shade. It is all very exciting. My husband is supportive of my efforts, but it will be some time before it really takes place. It was difficult to leave the garden behind, because I knew it so intimately, and it was a major hobby. After 10 years, everything had begun to mesh and meld and grow beautifully together. I did not have the option of taking anything with me. Because I am so happy in my life now, I can start my planting anew, AND play my violin as well. I share that with my husband, and many wonderful folks on Cape Cod.

I will be posting photos mostly of the old place, because I accumulated massive amounts of photos of my flowers and landscape. Until I begin a regular website, I am hoping to build a network of people from everywhere who will contribute to this blog. Please comment, suggest, and contribute.
